The Grand Hotel & Resort Information

The Grand Hotel and Resort at Jackson Hole

About the Developer | County Planning Applications | Location & Size

General information

This website page is sponsored by jacksonhole.net for the purposes of keeping the Jackson Hole local Community informed about a new development proposal named the Grand Hotel and Resort at Jackson Hole. The www.jacksonhole.net website will be updated regularly to assist the community and provide a meaningful discussion and e-forum for excellent communication while the application is being considered for re-zoning by the Teton County planning staff and commissioners.

It is the hope of the developer that this updated development information provided on this popular local website will become a model and example to create better information and forum input and produce meaningful community dialogue. It is also created in hopes to assist the Jackson Hole community at large, the local developer, as well as the county elected officials discern through the whole picture of what is best for our community at this historic time of developing the last few parcels of land suitable for development in a commercial use.

The site shall assist and up-date all the locals interested to understand the benefits, concerns and changes needed to make this and any new development project proposal a win/win for all Teton County residents living in our awesome community around Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

The Grand Hotel and Resort project proposal has been recently created, designed and proposed in a pre-application meeting with the Teton County planning office on January 13, 2005. The initial concept of the plan was designed to serve as a suitable commercial development project at the right place and right time. The local developer truly believes that this well timed proposal provides a reasonable solution and alternative plan to the recent controversial commercial re-zoning request proposed by the SRA on a 500+ acre tract of land adjoining the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort in Teton Village.

This attractive western style lodge which is the main feature of the new Grand Hotel development proposal recently submitted could truly be the key to help us all discern what the best is for our community at this critical crossroads period in Jackson Hole.

The projects strategic West Bank location adjacent to the Racquet Club Resort has been carefully chosen and considered by the developer to be a viable alternative to SRA Commercial developments being considered. Timing is always critical and the timing is right to closely look at other alternatives to meet the greater Teton County community needs and desires and make the right decisions on the massive SRA re-zoning proposal.

The project also carefully considers the local community needs and the developer of the Grand Hotel has chosen an excellent team of experts to help guide him and our county planners and officials to understand our critical need to swiftly and firmly address the traffic concerns on the Village road. The local team of experts led by Scott Pierson will be able to perhaps assist WYDOT to create smart road system as well as an ideal hi-way plan and mass transit system needed to service our wonderful ski resort in Teton Village for many years to come.

The location of this strategic new Jackson Hole Resort Development and transportation connector hub will hopefully serve as a fresh new concept and county solution to our transportation and road expansion crisis. This new development plan could prevent the need to expand the Teton Village road to a four lane hi-way to the north of this new Resort.

This strategic location and Resort development may also provide for good long term road planning solution and perhaps prevent the need for another north bridge access over the Snake River which will likely condemned by WYDOT to service an over expanded Teton Village Commercial zoning.

This creative new Grand Hotel resort development plan also allows for smart sensible growth on the West bank in the right location to compliment and assist the businesses in and around the Racquet Club Resort and our whole community. The new resort plan is well thought out and provides more centrally located employee housing for the mid-valley area residents on the West Bank. Many seasonal and full-time locals prefer living and working as full time residents in this popular mid valley location as it is extremely convenient to town and has excellent access to the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort at Teton Village.

The local developer of this new resort plan strongly believes that this perfect site setting for a new mid-valley west bank resort development is simply a better alternative to building more 5 and 6 story mega-hotel chains and commercial buildings in the beautiful open ranch lands surrounding Teton Village.

As an original supporter of the SRA proposal, the developer of the New Grand Hotel and Resort listened carefully to the concerns of the locals and community leaders about the commercial development at SRA and now believes it truly is the wrong place for expansive commercial sprawl at the wrong time. He is now convinced after talking to many county representatives that the traffic patterns would dramatically be altered and adversely affected by a new mega- commercial zoning approval and development granted on the 500 acres of ranchlands surrounding Teton Village.

The attractive and beautiful low level design of the new Grand Hotel and Resort is a true resemblance of the historic lodges built in Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks. The western ambiance and design will feature a new western style commercial facility and transportation hub to service the needs of the Jackson Hole west bank community. This awesome setting and location are ideal as the existing natural screening of the 12 acre tract being re-zoned is very logical and provides a tasteful site for a well designed western lodge. A full presentation of exterior elevations will soon be presented in color renderings and designs to the county planners and posted on this site.

About the Developer

The developer of this Jackson Hole Resort project is Grand Teton Reservations LLC, owned by Ronald and Laura Miller, who have been locals in the valley for nearly 25 years. The Miller family presently owns 2 hotels in Jackson Hole, and several rental properties in downtown Jackson as well as Teton Village, Wyoming.

Ronald Miller created and founded Jackson Hole Reservations and the Jackson Hole Real Estate Company in 1997, with offices presently located at the Miller Park Lodge, adjacent to the Rusty Parrot Lodge and Spa in downtown Jackson Hole Wyoming. The web domain jacksonhole.net was also founded in 1997 has been one of the top community web site portals in Jackson Hole and continues to drive the success of the local companies owned and operated by the Miller family. The website domain serves the community in a variety of ways by providing links and updated information for most local businesses and lodging properties throughout the valley.

Jackson Hole Reservations has become the largest provider of inbound lodging reservations to the Jackson Hole area. This unique company and powerful website also provides updated snow and weather conditions, activity information and pricing, as well as other valuable information used by locals in the community including a popular Real estate MLS search engine.

This unique and powerful new Central Reservation system known as Jackson Hole Reservations provides excellent local bookings for Miller owned hotels and properties as well as all other lodging vendors in the area. Miller is convinced that a smart local lodging vendor can easily survive and compete against the giants in the industry such as Four Seasons Resort. Miller claims his resort Hotel will be much more attractive than the 5 story monster hotel recently built in the Village by Four Seasons. Miller is concerned that more oversized buildings of that magnitude will look terrible in the open meadows of the Snake River Ranch. 'It is going to look like Miami Beach out there without an ocean if we pass the present SRA Commercial development proposed."

County planning applications and desired use of the proposal

This much more reasonable Hotel and Resort development proposal by the Miller Family will require a special use permit for Commercial re-zoning granted by the Jackson Hole planning staff and commission as well as approval of the Teton County Commissioners to become a reality. If approved, the Miller family intends to manage the Western Style Hotel Resort with a unique local perspective and management staff. The focus of this locally owned and operated business will be centered on providing special attention and service to both the local community needs and visitors to Jackson Hole.

The strategic location of this well thought out and designed Resort complex will provide much needed services for Jackson Hole locals by providing a community conference center, transportation facility, and critical employee housing on site for the hotel and surrounding businesses. The hotel project is also designed to compliment the existing commercial neighbors and provide benefits to those businesses surrounding this unique property in Jackson Hole.

Location and Size of the Hotel and Resort Development

The projects unique West Bank location adjacent to the existing Aspens Racquet Club Resort has long been viewed by the county planners as a logical 'node" to keep resort development clustered. The 12 acre tract has approximately 1260 feet of frontage contiguous to the Teton Village Road for ideal access and location of a transportation hub to service the community. This strategically located Resort proposal is ideal to meet the needs of the surrounding resort communities and provide much needed hotel accommodations at the Racquet Club/ Teton Pines area.
