The weather has been beautiful; so grab your hiking shoes, a pack, your family, and head into Grand Teton National Park<\/a> for a fun, family friendly Taggart Lake hike.<\/p>\n

Getting to Taggart Lake hike<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A seven-day entrance pass to Grand Teton National Park costs $25 per vehicle. Once in the Park a good first stop is the Craig Thomas Visitor Center to get current updates, information, and the chance to talk to Rangers. To get to the Taggart Lake hike trailhead<\/a> just drive 2.5 miles north on the Teton Park Road to the Taggart Creek parking lot. There are bathrooms at the trailhead, but keep in mind there are none on the hike or at the lake. The hike is relatively easy, low in elevation, and best for kids four and older who can walk the trail themselves.<\/p>\n

On the Taggart Lake Hike<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Once on the trail there will be plenty of opportunities for wildlife viewing with your best bets being bird watching. The trail gets a fair amount of traffic, so bears are not expected, but it\u2019s still best to pack bear spray and be bear aware. Make sure to keep all food stored away and pack out all food and trash.<\/p>\n

Although, you\u2019ll be walking through dense forest a decent portion of the trail is open meadows and sees a fair amount of sun, so make sure you bring and apply sunscreen frequently throughout the day.  As the heat increases feel free to cool off or at least dip your feet in the glacial waters of the lake, which will be sure to cool you off.<\/p>\n

Either lake makes a great destination to sit, relax, have a family picnic, and refuel after all that walking. It\u2019s a 3 mile round trip to Taggart Lake and about another 1.5 miles to Bradley Lake. Set aside around 2-4 hours for the hike. Enjoy being on the trail with your family and taking in the scenic views that Grand Teton National Park has to offer. The Grand Teton and Teewinot Mountain will always be visible along the hike and at a certain section you will even get a glimpse of  Snow King Mountain back in Jackson.
