A winter wonderland is in full effect in Jackson Hole and there is no better place to be for the holidays with your family than right here in the Tetons. Jackson at this time of year is in a word idyllic. It\u2019s like you are in your very own snow globe or get to walk around in a toy train set. It\u2019s basically a fairy tale come to life, so get out and make the most of it with the ones you love. Here are some holiday traditions to get you in the spirit of the season.<\/p>\n

Holiday Shows in Jackson Hole<\/h2>\n


\n\"nutcracker\"<\/a>The Nutcracker<\/a> – <\/em><\/strong>The first performance of the The Nutcracker <\/em>by Tchaikovsky premiered in 1892 and was surprisingly not considered a success with some critics even panning it. They\u2019ve apparently worked the kinks out and continue to win out critics and audiences alike year after year, as it\u2019s gone on to become the<\/em> holiday classic. Be sure to check out this local performance presented by Dancers\u2019 Workshop and featuring the Eugene Ballet Company along with Dancers\u2019 Workshop students when it takes place at the Center for the Arts.  The show runs Friday, December 5th<\/sup> at 7:30 pm, Saturday, December 6th<\/sup> 1pm, and Sunday, December 7th<\/sup> at 1pm and 4 pm. Tickets are $30 to $35 depending on performance and $10 to $15 for students.<\/p>\n

Those attending the December 6th<\/sup> showing are invited on stage for a chance to meet the cast. See the amazing costumes and sets up close as well as an opportunity to get autographs.<\/p>\n

In a Nutshell<\/a> – <\/em><\/strong>The inventive production of In a Nutshell provides a fresh spin and modern twist on the holiday classic The Nutcracker. Presented by Dancers\u2019 Workshop and performed at the Center for the Arts this new holiday tradition is the brainchild of Dancers\u2019 Workshop Artistic Director Babs Case and long-time collaborator Bob Berky.  This fun, funky, and entertaining retelling of The Nutcracker will appeal to old and new fans of this production. You can catch it Saturday, December 13th<\/sup> at 5:30 and 8pm. Tickets start at $20 for adults and $10 for students. Or sit in on the action at an onstage table where you will not only be entertained, but treated to some delectable desserts as well. Onstage seating is $35 for adults and $15 for students<\/p>\n

Christmas in the Hole<\/a> – <\/strong><\/em>Celebrate the Holidays Jackson Hole Playhouse style; their annual Christmas show features traditional carols, lots of laughs, decadent Holiday cuisine and the priceless gift of sharing the evening with the one’s you love, in the winter wonderland of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. December 12 – January 3, 2014.<\/p>\n

Holiday Music in Jackson Hole<\/h2>\n

\"WonderfulChristmasPoster2014CONDENSED\"<\/a><\/strong><\/em>TubaChristmas<\/strong><\/em> – Get into the holiday spirit with a live performance by the Jackson Hole Community Band!  This event was established in 1974 in memory of one of the world’s foremost tuba players, William J. “Bill” Bell.  The National Museum of Wildlife Art, December 26, 12-4pm.<\/p>\n

It’s a Wonderful Christmas<\/a> – <\/strong><\/em>The Cathedral Voices and Treble Voices choirs join forces once again with the Jackson Hole Symphony Orchestra and the Jackson Hole Brass Quintet to share a truly spirited and inviting performance! In collaboration with Off Square Theatre Company and Riot Act, Inc., It\u2019s a Wonderful Christmas<\/em> will celebrate the holidays through music & theater. Walk Festival Hall at Teton Village, December 13-14<\/p>\n

Holiday Events in Jackson Hole<\/h2>\n

\"10682456_898235906855852_7932730297823625598_o<\/a>12 Days of Christmas at the Wort Hotel –  <\/strong>The Wort Hotel knows a thing or two about tradition. It\u2019s only been an institution in Jackson since 1941. Come the holiday season they like to set the mood for this festive season with their annual 12 Days of Christmas. This year marks the 18th<\/sup> year in a row and their list of events seem to just get better and better. The holiday fun runs all the way up until Christmas so make sure you check out as many as you can.<\/p>\n

Here are a few highlights:<\/p>\n

Ginger Bread House Decorating –  <\/em><\/strong>On Monday, December 8th<\/sup> you can make your very own ginger bread house and decorate it all for $45. The housing market hasn\u2019t seen prices like that since way, way back in the day, so be sure to take advantage. No building permits needed, but reservations are required as it\u2019s sure to sell out.<\/p>\n

Wine Pairing with the Big 6 Grapes – <\/em><\/strong>If you are having a little trouble getting into the Christmas spirit stop by this wine pairing and tasting. You\u2019ll be sure to leave enlightened about the some great new wines, full of food, and holiday cheer. Executive Chef William Peak creates delectable bite sized creations and pairs them with the perfect wine selection. Wednesday, December 10th<\/sup> from 5-7pm. Tickets are $25, reservations required.<\/p>\n

2nd<\/sup> Annual Kid\u2019s Art Show – <\/em><\/strong>Come see what the next generations of Jackson artists are up to at this fun family event. The art reception runs from 4-6pm on Sunday, December 14 and highlights local young talent, ages preschool to 5th<\/sup> grade. Prizes will be awarded by age and category. This could be just your chance to scope out the next big artist. Or just come for the cider, snacks, and the musical performances.<\/p>\n

Annual Christmas Buffet – <\/em><\/strong>Leave the cooking and clean up to someone else and enjoy a Christmas buffet at the Silver Dollar Grill. A full Christmas classic dinner with all the sides and trimmings you could ask for. Thursday, December 25 from 11am-4pm. $41.95 for adults and kids start at $13.95.<\/p>\n
